Transferring company ownership

Transfer company ownership: hand a company over to another member, who then takes over its billing and management.

One owner per company

Every company has exactly one owner. The owner handles billing for that company and is the only person who can delete it or hand it over to someone else.

Transferring ownership

You can pass ownership to anyone who is already a member of the company.

  1. Open Company settings and go to the Team section.
  2. Next to the member you want to promote, choose the Make owner action (the crown).
  3. Confirm.

After the transfer:

  • That member becomes the owner and takes over billing for the company.
  • You become an admin, so you keep full access to manage it.

Before you transfer

The new owner's plan needs room for the company (within their company and project limits, with an active subscription). If it doesn't fit, ask them to upgrade first, then try again. See Individual vs Manager accounts and Plans and what each limit means.
