Scan statuses

Scan statuses explained: what running, completed, pending and failed mean for a scan, and what to do at each one.

What each status means

An scan moves through a few states. You'll see these on the Scans list and at the top of the dashboard.

  • Running: the scan is working: asking your prompts and checking your site. It runs in the background, so you can navigate away and come back.
  • Completed: the scan finished and your scores are ready to review.
  • Failed: something prevented the scan from finishing. The dashboard shows what happened and whether it is something in your setup to fix (for example a domain we could not reach, tagged Action needed) or a problem on our side (tagged On our side). If it's on our side, just run it again in a bit; if it's your setup, fix the flagged detail first.

While it's running

Scores appear as soon as they're ready. A running scan is safe to leave: your results are waiting when you return, and you'll see the dashboard fill in.

Re-running

Finished scans stay in your history. To measure again (for example after making improvements), start a new scan. See Re-running and comparing scans.
